BUSY DAYS USUALLY ARE my favorite thing because it makes the day fly by so much faster, but today it’s just annoying the hell out of me. I’m stuck in a meeting, and it’s has run into my lunch hour. If something doesn’t give, I’ll be here until my next meeting.

“Just stop it. Not one of you has a clue who oversees this campaign. So I’ll give you until Friday morning to get it together, or I will give the client to someone else,” I say as I slip from my seat, I exit the boardroom making a beeline for my office.

As I walk in, I slam the door a little too hard which causes Gavin to jump, “Whoa Little Bit. You’re going to break something with that temper.”

“Sorry, sometimes the stress gets to be too much, and the door gets the blunt force trauma,” motioning for him to join me at the small table by the window. “Sorry it’s not the full hour, but I’ll stay until I must leave. What did the doctor have to say this morning, knowing it’s not great news because you’d told me by now?

“Don’t let work stress you too much. You got precious cargo on board. The doctor told me something I already knew which is no big deal at this point in life. I’ll never ride professionally again. It seems like I got a better offer in life anyway, and it’s not like I’m going to be homeless and broke. The ranch is more than enough to support a family and me. Plus, I’ve never really spent any of my winnings, never needed too. It has perks too; I’ll be home all the time so that I won’t miss a moment of the baby.”

Hearing a knock on the door, I call to enter. Miranda, stands frozen right inside my office door. “Miranda, I’d like for you to meet Gavin, this is my assistant and best friend, Miranda.”

“Sorry to intrude, but your meeting is ready to go. Would you like your lunch to be taken in with you? A lot have brought lunch up to the meeting.”

“That would be great, can you also see that I have extra water, and I’ll be right there.” Standing on tiptoes I give Gavin a peck on the lips, “Here’s the key make yourself at home, and I’ll be home about seven-fifteen.” I then head out of my office and catch up with Miranda.

“You were so not kidding about how big he was, and his eyes, wow! If I wasn’t married, I might fight you for him. Lucky ass bitch who scores like that on a one-night stand and gets pregnant, then he turns out to be a good guy to boot?”
